We all love something new, don’t we? A new car with that distinctive and soon-to-fade smell; a new house full of the promise of a new chapter in our lives; or best of all, a new member of the family, with all of that human potential wrapped in a tiny, talc-smelling, gorgeous form.
OK so this isn’t quite the same as having a new baby in the family – but we ARE excited about launching our new website! Not least because, as well as sharing something of who we are and what’s going on that you can join in with, it also allows us to share via these blogs our reflections, thoughts and news about what God is doing amongst us here at Gateway Baptist Church (we call it GBC for short!).
As the psalm reminds us, God loves to ‘put a new song in our mouths’, so we will have no shortage of news and reflections to share!

We summarise our purpose at GBC as ‘Knowing Jesus and Making Him Known’. So that encompasses our own personal journey of drawing closer to Jesus and knowing him more and more (there is always more!) – as well as our passion to share that knowledge by introducing him to others.
And our experience is that as we do so, just as the psalm stated, God continually does something new.
We already have so much to share of our own encounters with God – testimonies of how Jesus has transformed our lives, sometimes stories of real life healing, sometimes just stories or poems from our imaginative Creative Writing group reflecting on God’s Big Story.
But because with Jesus there is always more, you’ll need to keep coming back to see what amazing and wonderful things He will be doing in Burgess Hill and Mid Sussex over the coming weeks, months and years!
“And I pray that you, being rooted and established in love, may have power, together with all the Lord’s holy people, to grasp how wide and long and high and deep is the love of Christ, and to know this love that surpasses knowledge—that you may be filled to the measure of all the fullness of God.”
Ephesians 3 v17-19
